Bobcats open preseason ranked 3rd in nation

The Georgia College & State University baseball team is ranked #3 in the nation according to the Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Preseason Poll which was released on Monday.

GC&SU returns 17 players from last year’s team which went 39-20 and finished the season ranked #6 in the nation after advancing to the championship game of the NCAA South Atlantic Regional Tournament. This is the highest ever preseason ranking for GC&SU in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine poll.

Defending national champion Southeast Oklahoma tops the poll. GC&SU is one of five Peach Belt Conference schools in the poll along with #2 University of North Florida, #10 Kennesaw State , #15 Columbus State, and #28 Armstrong Atlantic State.

The Bobcat baseball team is scheduled to open the 2001 season at home on Friday, February 2 against Georgia Southwestern.
